Quality Control - Quality Control Articles

The terms “quality control” and “quality assurance” are often used interchangeably though they have different meanings. While quality control refers to a system or set of system that is intended to ensure that a product or service that is manufactured adheres to a laid down quality standard and meets the needs of the customer, quality assurance on the other hand refers to the systematic processes of production that are used to guarantee confidence in the suitability of a product or service for its intended use. Most of the time quality control is expressed with quality assurance and control (qa qc). The other difference between quality control and quality assurance is that quality assurance includes the regulation of the quality of the manufactured products and other components such as quality management.

There are various guidelines and standards that have been published in the past under the ISO series. The guidelines and standards were used to supplement source specific quality control/ quality assurance procedures for various inventory developments as well as to offer guidance for guaranteeing transparent reporting system and data quality in quality control. Examples of such ISO series include iso 9001, iso 9000, iso 9004-1 that was used to provide general quality guidelines in order to implement quality improvement for quality systems. Other ISO series include ISO 10005 and 100011-1 that have always been used to offer guidelines on how to generate quality plans for the regulation of specific objects and to offer guidelines for the systematic audit of quality control systems.

The systems of quality control are governed by a set of activities that are intended for quality control improvement. Some of these include six sigma, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP). In order for one to implement an effective quality control program, it is advisable for an organization to decide the specific standards that the product or service is required to meet. The next step will be to decide the extent of quality control actions that the organization will be required to determine. After this, the organization effecting the quality control program will be required to collect real-world data. The results of these are then reported to the organization’s management personnel. After this the organization will be required to take corrective action for any unit failures.

If too many unit failures in the quality control process are in place, a plan will be devised with a view to improving the process control. The 6 sigma quality improvement activity can be used together with a good quality control plan in order to ensure the success of the quality control process. This will also help ensure total quality management for the quality control process. A good quality control system fulfills most iso certification. In fields such as engineering, quality control come in handy in developing systems in order to ensure that services and products are produced and designed to meet the needs of the customer. Most enterprises create a quality manual for their quality control process. However, even as enterprises do this, they still have regard to the ISO series such as iso 9001 2000 in order to promote quality control and ensure high quality for their goods and services.

Quality control jobs are made easier with a good quality system and a good quality plan that meet quality standards. The six sigma training is a good training mechanism through which an enterprise can learn how to ensure quality process for quality control. After successful of a quality training, a trainee is awarded with a six sigma belt and a six sigma certification. In order to promote quality control inspection in organizations, most inspectors are provided with control tools such as control charts. This also helps improve the qa qc process during quality inspection and statistical process control process. The quality inspector carrying out the quality control process has a six sigma green belt that indicates that he is well knowledgeable on quality and control systems, quality audit that enhances quality of control in the quality control process of the quality management system.

Such a quality inspector will usually be well conversant with ISO standards including iso 17025 that is essential in enhancing quality assurance control. The process capability of any quality control process largely depends on the quality assurance plan of the quality control inspector.
